Hello, I’m Mallory Simon
A Creston local, I returned to the valley with my husband Paul and two small children in 2018. Between a full-time job as the Finance Manager at Kootenay Employment Services and my little ones, there is just enough time for weekly dose of Art which keeps me sane(-ish)! I started with Jaye's Introduction to Acrylic in the summer of 2022 and have enjoyed taking her subsequent oil classes as they've been offered. While I enjoyed the odd paint night in the larger cities, this is my first real taste of art instruction and I am loving every minute of it!
Both acrylic and oil have been a challenging/rewarding, and I hope to try out more mediums when I can. My goal is to move away from reproductions of other artist's work and grow the skills to make original compositions. I'd like to try portraits that don't look like monkeys, and to create an indoor garden of flowers. My other creative hobbies include knitting and gardening, and in the summer I love to get out hiking in our beautiful mountains.
I am really looking forward to getting to know the other members of Art Space and feel very blessed to be included in this lovely Art community!
